Sign up here!

Sign ups will close on February 12th at 11:59 PM EST.

Sign up instructions are below. Please read this post even if you have signed up for exchanges before.

General Info:

You sign up with one or more requests and one or more offers. Each request and offer includes one fandom, a choice of medium (fanfic, art, or both), 1-20 relationships, 1-9 additional tags for genre, and a choice of ratings (Teen, Explicit, or both). In each request, you may include a link to a letter with more details about your prompts, likes, and dislikes, and you may also include details in the prompts box in your sign up form, including DNWs (Do Not Wants). These are anything that would ruin your gift and are enforceable.

After matching, you will receive an assignment to create a work of at least 500 words or a nice sketch on unlined paper for someone whose requests matched at least one combination (medium, fandom, relationship, additional tag, and rating) that you offered.

Because of the nature of this exchange, I strongly encourage participants to ask for exactly what they want, to DNW everything they do not want, and to browse Requests for kinds of gore they might not have considered to add to these categories.

Requests:

You may request 1-10 fandoms. You may sign up requesting only 1-2 fandoms, but if so you are not guaranteed to receive a gift. If your assignment goes out to pinch hits (ie. because your assigned creator defaults, or because your requests are unmatchable initially), I will not hold the exchange until you receive a gift unless you add fandoms to reach 3.

The form consists of check boxes and blank fields which should automatically offer suggestions as you type. You must enter pairings and fandoms as they are in the tagset. Occasionally a tag in the tagset may not appear in the dropdown as you type. If this happens, the best thing to do is copy/paste it from the tagset to be sure the formatting is correct. Optionally, you may check "Any" in some fields. This means the creator has the option of any tag that is in the tagset for that field.

You must click the "Add another request?" button to add a new request for each additional fandom after the first.

For each fandom, you may request fanfiction, art, or both.

For each fandom, you may request 1-20 relationships, including solo characters (X & None). You are guaranteed a work which contains the character or relationship you requested. X/Y is a romantic or sexual relationship, X & Y is a platonic relationship, and X & None means that character must be included (not necessarily alone).

You may mention/prompt for other characters and relationships in your optional details, but you may not use them to demand your creator include characters or relationships they did not match on. I recommend you do not prompt solely for relationships you did not request.

You may request 1-9 additional/genre tags, including: Action With Gore, Angst With Gore, Character Death-Focused Work, Erotic Gore, Graphic Torture, Horror With Gore, Humor With Gore, Hurt/Comfort With Gore, and Other/None.

These dictate the kind of work you will receive. Graphic Torture and Character Death-Focused Work should be used to request works which mainly focus on those subjects and could be considered works of those genres, not merely works which incidentally include them. If you request Other/None, you can prompt for scenarios which fall outside these categories, but your creator will have the option to create a work of any genre.

Remember that you will match on a minimum of one additional tag. If you request multiple tags, your creator will be required to include at least ONE option, not more in combination.

You may request 1-2 ratings, including Teen (which includes Mature) and Explicit. This is not binding on the rating of the work you receive. Instead, this is your chance to request very explicit, or less explicit and more discreet gore, and is meant to ensure participants match to people with similar taste. It only applies to violence. For example, if you want to prompt for smut but less graphic gore, you should choose Teen. More about this in the rules.

Letter URL: Optionally, you may link to another page with more details about your prompts. Some participants choose to do this because letters are easier to bookmark and visit, can be updated after sign ups close, have longer character limits and can be formatted. If you choose to include a letter link, make sure your letter is accessible without being logged in, legible and complete not long after assignments go out. If you link to a tumblr post, make sure you do not change your url before the end of the exchange! DNWs listed only in letters cannot be enforced, because they can be edited without the mod's knowledge.

Prompts: Here you can include more details about your prompts and taste and your DNWs in the sign up form.

DNWs must be included in your sign-up to be enforced, in the prompts field. Your DNWs must be clear, non-judgmentally worded, and must not contradict your request or each other (eg. do not DNW character death if you are requesting a work focusing on it; do not DNW all AUs if you are requesting a pairing who never met in canon). They must be reasonable and can't be used to force your creator to make one very specific work. I may contact participants whose DNWs are confusing or otherwise problematic and request they edit their wording, or in extreme cases, have their sign ups deleted.

Remember that you will match on one combination of tags, and you don't know which it will be. You may not use your optional details to demand your creator fill one specific request or to inform them which request you "really" or "most" want. Please only request things you want.

Offers:

You may include 1-10 offers. Each consists of a fandom, 1-2 mediums, 1-20 relationships, 1-9 additional tags, and 1-2 ratings, explained in requests above.

If you choose "Any" for any field, you may match to any request for that fandom, and must create for a tag requested by the recipient.

You must offer a combination someone else is requesting. I encourage you to browse Requests as sign ups close to make sure you're matchable on offers. I will contact participants who are unmatchable on offers after sign ups close, and they will have 24 hours to add offers; otherwise their sign ups will be deleted.

Assignments:

You must create a work of at least 500 words, or at least a clean sketch on unlined paper. It must contain substantial gore content. It must fulfill some combination of tags your recipient requested (except rating), and must respect your recipient's DNWs. Unrequested gore is a part of this exchange and on-topic. Aside from that, you must reasonably believe your recipient could enjoy what you create.

You will receive an email with your assignment by February 14th, and it will be available via the My Assignments tab on your AO3 account. You can fulfill it either by clicking fulfill on that page, or by checking the open assignment on the New Work page.

Your assignment must be posted by March 13th at 11:59 PM EDT, unless you receive an extension from me. Assignments will be visible but anonymous on March 25th at 11:59 PM EDT. You must keep your assignment secret in public until creator reveals, on April 1 11:59 PM EDT.

If you have a question for your recipient, do not contact them directly, even anonymously. Contact me privately by dreamwidth DM or email (shimmeringwords@gmail.com) and I will contact your recipient without revealing your identity, and pass their response on to you.

You may default at any time by clicking the default button on your assignments page with no penalty. If you default, you will not be guaranteed a work if your creator also defaults. Creators who do not turn in any work by deadline but do not default, or who post an unfinished work or a placeholder instead, may be required to create a treat (additional work) that fulfills any request before signing up again.

You may also request to swap your assignment with any outstanding pinch hit in lieu of defaulting. If you successfully swap your assignment, you will still be guaranteed a gift.

Extensions of up to a week post-deadline will be granted generously without an excuse. I will probably not grant second or longer extensions on assignments.
If you don't have an account you can create one now.
