You should nominate all of the relationships you'd like to request or offer. You're guaranteed a work that includes *both* substantive gore and the relationship you match on, but there are various ways to fill that, including violence between the ship, violence to or from a third party, a gory accident and hurt/comfort between the ship afterward, etc.
If you'd like to match on one character and don't care who, if anyone, they're with, you should nominate Character & None. That doesn't mean they're literally alone in the fic - the Relationships field just requires that formatting. If you want to match on a character shipped with *some* character, but don't care who, you would request Character/Any, and likewise if you wanted to match with a character for a work featuring *some* platonic relationship, you would request Character & Any.
