A classic came-back-wrong story. The fear of the deep mutates into an inability to regain a sense of safety once back home, and I liked that we got both points of view: the one who left and the one who was left behind. While the book is partly a mediation on grief and processing loss, I’m more about the active fear and scientific examination/stretching biological limits angles as opposed to the wallowing in misery experience, so I would prefer something that focuses on, for example, the horror elements in the ocean or Leah’s disintegration.

> Biopsy, or other organoid/tissue culture/artificial gestation scenarios! Drach, Ra, Abby: Among all 40k's industrialized mass murder, there's just something about a Traditional, Artisanal Violence (and its humans), a little bit of blood in your fields. This is one where I genuinely want to see other fans’ views, so feel free to be very weird and terrible here. Regular fights and atrocity-committing are great, but so are flashbacks, dreams, mind rape, shapeshifting, and hallucinations.
Ideas:
> Consider also technology. Canon favours swords, nowadays I think we mostly go for rocks, but - have you seen a microlithic sickle? Medieval shovel? How many ways are there to take apart a human? What is the most prototypical one? Does it even matter?
> The concept of being able to identify the severity of your own injuries by how enthusiastic the evil demonic peanut gallery gets about them (it would be very pleased if you died). The concept of it being growing unsettlingly easy and intuitive to slaughter whoever, when you really do want to keep your free will.
> Going to reiterate shapeshifting because I love thinking of what other forms Drach’nyen could have. The “humanoid and bleeding from everywhere” from MoM is a great look, but there are many other conceptually-fitting morphologies it could take. That tumblr post about Iphigenia Goddess of War is kind of a vibe, but eldritch-er could work too. Go nuts.
> Abby & Ra: honestly, I’m seeing a mercy killing in these two. If you have a better idea, please go for it (I guess "here, share generations of sin with me" could work too), but I feel like they are very capable of violent death that simultaneously maintains human dignity. And they would probably be aware of the intense narrative weight of doing that - this is the story that must be played, there are no other versions, just pick who gets what role. If you can't have pretty or painless, you can at least have fast and honourable. There is basically no limit to the amount of emotional pathos and resonance I want in here.
> Abby/Drach'nyen: while it's definitely just a stupid idea to fuck the eldritch malice entity whose understanding of sex probably shakes out to "ah, yes, the reason people get stoned/do infanticide", nobody in Warhammer ever makes good decisions anyway, so... But the weirder and eldritch-er the better; I do not think demon sex bears any resemblance to the human kind. Pangloss: it’s a Prometheus expy, and that’s probably all that need be said for a gore prompt. Organs outside is somewhat typical here.
